Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is schedule to hold its first convocation in 46 years next month.
"This is to inform you that the second Convocation of Jawaharlal Nehru University is schedule to be held on 08th August 2018 for award of Ph.D degree to students of the University, who have completed their Ph.D programme successfully on/before June 30, 2018," said the university's notification.
The university was established in 1969 and its first and only convocation was held three years later in 1972.
Noted journalist, educationist and diplomat Gopalaswami Parthasarathy was then the Vice Chancellor of the university.
Balraj Sahni, the Indian film and stage actor, delivered the convocation address, where he famously said, "It is my earnest hope and prayer that you, graduates of Jawaharlal Nehru University may succeed where I and so many others of my generation have failed."
Aligarh Muslim University held its 65th annual convocation in February, where President Ram Nath Kovind was the chief guest.
It is not yet clear who the chief guest of the JNU's convocation will be.
