Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua District organised a day long job fair on December 26), with an aim to motivate the region's youth towards self-employment and boost development in the valley.
The central and state governments introduced a number of self-employment schemes in the fair to attract the unemployed youth and provide attractive easy loan plans.
The state's youth thronged the fair held at the Hiranagar Sports Stadium to make use of the opportunities provided by the government.
"Recently, people have come to know about the various government schemes, self-help groups and interest-free loans. People are being taught to start self-businesses through mushrooms, fisheries etc. This is a very good government programme which will help people to start their own businesses," said a visitor, Anish.
Minister of Planning, Labour and Employment in Jammu and Kashmir, Ajay Sadotra, graced the occasion with his presence and was also seen taking a look at the different stalls.

He said the event is an attempt to generate employment in the state.
"It is government's attempt to attract the unemployed youth towards self-employment and they are given more and more opportunities so that they can start their own businesses and start a better life," said Sadotra.
