'Saturday Night Live' latest host John Cena recently pulled off a perfect parody of the 1984 hit movie, 'The Karate Kid' on the comedy show.
In a skit dubbed 'The Karate Teen,' the 39-year-old wrestler played the role of Sammy Knox who became a dead-on ringer for a slightly older Billy Zabka, the 'Karate Kid' bully and one of the most infamous teen bad-guy actors of the era, reports cnet.com.
'SNL' cast member Mikey Day played Jeffy LeHart, the good-guy nerd with high hopes and next-to-no shot at winning, with Kenan Thompson as the white-bearded Mr. Miyagi who trained Knox.
The sketch also paid homage to the shifu's unorthodox training techniques, mystical lessons of encouragement and the rooting-for-the-underdog setup.
Cena was able to show his comedic range through a wide range of characters from one-half of the Klovak Brothers (a tandem of magicians in the spirit of Siegfried and Roy) to a bookstore employee Jean-George.
Donning a crimson football jersey, Cena also played an earnest student-athlete who says he takes academics "incredibly seriously" before giving a presentation on bananas nailed to plywood, while his fellow students focus on slightly more complicated scientific matters.
