John Lennon used to beat up son Julian and have furious rows with his wife Cynthia about how to bring him up during his crumbling marriage days, claimed his former aide.

A secret paper has emerged detailing the Beatles legend's aggressive -behaviour, increasing drug use and mood swings during the latter days of his collapsing marriage nearly 50 years ago, the Mirror reported.

The claims are made in a five-page statement made by Lennon's housekeeper Dorothy Jarlett, who worked at the family home in Weybridge, Surrey, when the Beatles were at the height of their fame.

The maid also told how she found the singer in bed with lover Yoko Ono, who visited the house while Cynthia was away. Jarlett said the singer became nonchalant towards his wife around 1967, five years after they tied the knot.

Lennon and Cynthia's marriage problems came to a head in February 1968, when he confessed to sleeping with other women.
