Jordan has said that it has carried out nearly 56 air strikes in three days on Islamic State (IS) logistics sites and hideouts.

Air Force chief General Mansour al-Jbour said that the nation achieved what it aimed for, reported the BBC.

Almost 20 percent of all sorties by the U.S.-led coalition were carried out by Jordan against IS in Syria, al-Jbour said. He added that the strikes had destroyed about 20 percent of the militants' capabilities.

He stressed that the nation was determined to wipe out IS "from the face of the Earth."

The main focus of Jordanian air strikes is reported to be Raqqa, the IS stronghold in Syria.

Jordan stepped up its military offensive against the IS after the terror group released a grisly video showing a Jordanian hostage, pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh, being burnt alive in a cage.
