The forensic head of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Dr. Sudhir Gupta, on Tuesday said that a medical board will be formed to further decide on what actually caused TV journalist Akshay Singh's death.
"We have received a request from the Madhya Pradesh DGP that they are sending (Akshay Singh's) viscera sample for chemical examination. The conduction of post mortem (where it will be conducted) is purely the prerogative of the investigating officer," Dr. Gupta told media here.
"We will form a medical board and it will decide further in the matter," he added.
On Saturday, Akshay Singh, a journalist working for a leading Delhi-based news channel, suddenly took ill and died after having interviewed parents of a girl who had been found dead near railway tracks, after her name figured in the Vyapam scam.
The incident took place in Meghnagar near Jhabua town.
The journalist was rushed to the civil hospital and later to a private hospital, but doctors failed to revive him. From there he was taken to another hospital in nearby Dahod in Gujarat, where he was declared brought dead.
