A Jubo League activist was hacked and stabbed to death by rivals near the town's judge court area yesterday.

The incident triggered violent factional clashes that left two other activists injured, reports the Daily Star.

The deceased was identified as Geda Hossain, alias Geda Babu, aged 38.

He was resident of Mondolpara Village and an activist of Pabna municipality unit Jubo League.

An armed gang, allegedly belonging to the rival Jubo League faction, attacked Geda Babu near the boundary wall of the court when he along with his associates were returning home from the court at about noon yesterday.

"Criminals, led by Hasan, Hirok of Banglabazar village attacked us when we were returning from the court", the paper quoted Mohammad Uzzal Hossain, a colleague of Geda Babu, as saying.

Ragib Hassan Tipu, secretary of the Pabna district unit Jubo League, said Geda Babu was an active party activist, and claimed personal enmity was responsible for his tragic death.
