Speculations are rife that Julia Roberts' half-sister killed herself deliberately to destroy the actress' chances of winning an Oscar.

According to MailOnline, Conner Dilbeck, Nancy Motes' fiance's brother, has claimed that she took a suspected drug overdose after writing a suicide note which allegedly contained dark secrets about the 'Pretty Woman' star, the New York Post reported.

He added that the 46-year-old American actress inflicted 'pure cruelty' on her sister and Motes' suicide letter was a desperate attempt to expose the alleged treatment.

He also revealed that the 37-year-old daughter of Betty Lou and Michael Motes left behind an eight pages long note and Roberts, who has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for 'August: Osage County', is "terrified" about it coming out.

Motes' body was discovered in the bathroom of her Malibu home by her fiance John Dilbeck, and her family has expressed their sadness over her death due to "an apparent drug overdose".
