Julie Andrews has revealed that she feels lucky to have been asked to star in 1964's "wonderful movie" 'Mary Poppins'.

The veteran actress told USA Today that she knew it then and she knows it now that the film was one of those breaks in life that kick start your career, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The 'Sound of Music' star said that she was scared to death to do the film because she knew nothing about filming as it was her first film, which eventually won her her first Oscar.

The story behind how P.L. Travers' penned 'Mary Poppins', almost never saw the light of day has been exposed in Tom Hanks starrer 'Saving Mr. Banks', where Emma Thompson plays the famously sour English author.

While describing legendary filmmaker Walt Disney as a person, Andrews said that he had a little twinkle in his eye, wonderful sort of bubbly personality that masked a very serious businessman.

Andrews added that Hanks has captured that the real Disney's sparkle and Thompson could not have been more acerbic.
