Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan was detained by immigration authorities at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata upon his arrival from Dhaka on Saturday.
According to reports, Khan was detained for not having requisite permissions but was later given a temporary permit reportedly on the intervention of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
"There was a misinterpretation of rules. There is no problem. I have travelled to Kolkata because tomorrow I have a meeting with [BCCI president] Dalmiya ji. He is an old friend of mine," Khan told the media.
As per reports, Pakistan nationals can clear immigrations only at the Delhi, Amritsar and Mumbai airports. To enter India via any other airport, they need prior permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
