Justice Kapadia will remain an inspiration for members of legal fraternity: President Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday condoled the demise of former Chief Justice of India S.H. Kapadia, saying the latter was an eminent jurist known for his path breaking judgements as well as unimpeachable integrity.

"I am sad to learn about the passing away of Justice S.H. Kapadia, former Chief Justice of India," he said in a condolence message to the former CJI's wife Shernaaz Kapadia.

President Mukherjee said Justice Kapadia's life of discipline and erudition enabled him rise to the highest position in the judiciary of the country.

"As a judge and the Chief Justice of India, he made immense contribution to the development of jurisprudence. He will remain an inspiration for the members of legal fraternity," said President Mukherjee.

 

"Kindly accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to other members of your family. I pray to the Almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss," he added.

The former CJI, who delivered some landmark judgements, died in Mumbai following a cardiac arrest. He was 68 years old.
