Justice Sanjay Kumar Seth took oath as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court here on Wednesday.
Governor Anandi Ben Patel administered the oath of office to Justice Seth at Raj Bhawan.
Justice Seth was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court by the President of India on November 9.
A notification signed by Rajinder Kashyap, Joint Secretary to the Government of India, announced the elevation of Justice Seth to the post of Chief Justice.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sanjay Kumar Seth, Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the notification read.
After taking the oath, Justice Seth has become the 24th Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Justice Seth was previously made acting Chief Justice of the High Court after Chief Justice Hemant Gupta was elevated to the Supreme Court.
