K'taka mins splurged Rs. 11. 12 crore spent in 32 years for 'travel'

An RTI reply has revealed that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and 29 ministers had claimed Rs 11.12 crore as travel expenses in 32 years.

An RTI activist from Belgavi, Bheemappa Gadad got the details of the travelling expenses of the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues.

As per reports, they have spent a whopping Rs. 11.12 crore on travel since the Congress government came to power in the state.

Going by the information provided in reply to a question by the RTI activist, the ministers are given travelling expenses at Rs. 30 per km.

"Rs. 11.12 crore was taken from the Karnataka treasury in the last 32 years. One gets Innova car for Rs. 11 per kilometer on rent. But they fixed Rs. 30 rupees per kilometer. Rs. 75, 20, 000 was taken by them. The secretaries have spent public money. The Chief Minister has spent Rs. 40 lakh," Gadad told ANI.

 

Topping the list is Urban Development Minister, Vinay Sorake whose bill amount is Rs 75.89 lakh.

Gadad demanded the Opposition to raise the issue, failing which he would file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court.
