Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief Kiran Kumar on Tuesday expressed condolence over the sudden demise of former president APJ Abdul Kalam, saying he will be remembered as a person of spiritual values with a scientific approach towards life.
"Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam contributed greatly in the development of rocket technology. We remember him as a person who is extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Kalam was a person of both spiritual values with a scientific approach towards life," Kumar told ANI here.
"Dr. Kalam was very amicable. He used to interact with everyone with simplicity. It is a great loss for the country," he added.
Kalam, 84, passed away in Shillong yesterday after he was admitted to a hospital in the city.
The former president collapsed during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management. He was in a critical condition and had been admitted to the city's Bethany Hospital.
Kalam served as the 11th President on India from 2002 to 2007.
