South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis has backed his teammate JP Duminy to fulfill the role of an all-rounder with 'aplomb' for the country's Test side in the future.
The 162-Test veteran Kallis, who has amassed 13, 128 runs at an average of 56.10 and claimed 288 wickets at 32.43, is arguably South Africa's best-ever all-rounder, although he has struggled with injuries in recent years, putting his team in need for an all-rounder when he is not around anymore.
Believing the Duminy can fill out the role with panache, Kallis said that Duminy can become a 'fully-fledged' all-rounder in the Proteas' Test side in the future despite taking only 12 wickets in 17 Tests, adding that Duminy has the potential and talent to succeed as he is a top batsman and bowls more than useful off-spin, Sport24 reports.
According to Kallis, if Duminy works hard on his bowling, he can easily bowl 10-15 overs a day that is required from a top-class all-rounder.
The report mentioned that Duminy, who has scored 789 runs in Tests, was mainly considered as a part-time spinner at the start of his career, but has performed a more than adequate role for his side in recent times, especially in limited-overs cricket.
South Africa's next Test is against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi from October 14, the report added.
