Hassan said, "It is recognition of what I am already doing. I have been cleaning up with fans for last 20 years, and so have converted my fan clubs into social welfare clubs."

"I will add nine million more people if possible, as I consider this as nation building. I will invite nine million people to invite nine million more," he added.

Prime Minister Modi, while officially launching the 'Swachh Bharat' mission yesterday, had invited nine people including Sachin Tendulkar, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Ambani, Shashi Tharoor, Baba Ramdev , Salman Khan, Kamal Hassan, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and the team of soap opera 'Taarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashmah ' to take the initiative forward.

He also administered Swachh Bharat pledge and flagged-off Swachh Bharat walkathon.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan includes sweeping, removal of garbage, debris and unauthorised encroachments from roads, markets and residential places.

The campaign is aimed at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
