Rapper Kanye West sparked outrage over social media after he said that the enslavement of African Americans over centuries may have been "a choice".
The statement didn't go well with Twitterati, which slammed the singer over the micro-blogging site.
A user wrote, "Kanye West is out here saying that slavery sounded like a choice. How dare you trivialize slavery and say that it was a choice. Disgusting. That is taking things way too far. You're cancelled bro you can poop di scoopty scoopty whoop the fuck out that door. #kanyewest".
Another user tweeted, "I'm not black but I'm so pissed off by what #KanyeWest said today. Slavery was and is NOT a choice. Who would choose to go through the hell these people went trough. Kanye is an evil man. He's really a disgusting human being with no remorse over other people."
Third one added, "I will never support #KanyeWest ever again. Never. And yes, I supported his brand before. Fuck his ignorant free thought, Fuck his music, Fuck his shoes, Fuck his clothes. Fuck him. (Sic)"
After receiving backlash for his comments, West later took to Twitter to clarify his side.
