Delhi Jal Board vice chairman and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kapil Mishra is set to be appointed as the new Law Minister in the Arvind Kejriwal-led government.

Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal will forward Mishra's name to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

Mishra, 35, is the legislator from northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar.

He will succeed Jitendra Singh Tomar, who stepped down on Tuesday after being arrested by the Delhi Police over allegations that he had faked his law degree.

Tomar, who was yesterday sent to four-day police custody, has so far reiterated that his degree is not fake and accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of hatching a conspiracy into the entire episode.

Kejriwal has sent Tomar's resignation letter to President Pranab Mukherjee through the Lieutenant Governor.
