Over 50 percent of votes were cast in the bypolls to Mandya and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha in Karnataka today.
Over 36 lakh voters were eligible to exercise their franchise at 4,360 polling stations.
Around 25,000 security personnel were deployed on duty for the polling, which began at 8 a.m. and concluded at 5 p.m.
The polls were completely peaceful with no untoward incident being reported.
The bypolls was necessitated by the resignation of N Cheluvarayaswamy (Mandya) and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy (Bangalore Rural) who quit after being elected to the Assembly in May this year.
The counting of votes is scheduled on August 24.
