ANI Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India]

Former Karnataka chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Wednesday announced that cabinet expansion in the state will take place on December 22.

Addressing the media after attending the meeting here, Siddaramaiah said, "We (Congress-JD(S)) had co-ordination meeting today as Assembly session is approaching. We spoke about Cabinet expansion which will take place on December 22. Two MLAs from JD(S) and six MLAs from Congress will be inducted in the Cabinet."

Reportedly, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in May had assured the Congress that the party would get a greater share in the next round of Cabinet expansion.

The two parties - Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) had inked a post-poll pact in the Karnataka Assembly elections held in May this year to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -- which had emerged as the single-largest party.
