Karnataka Chief Minister S. Siddaramaiah on Friday said that a CID inquiry has been ordered into the alleged suicide of Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapathy, who was allegedly facing harassment from his seniors and an influential politician.
Ganapathy, who was posted at the IG office in Mangaluru, killed himself in a lodge, but left behind a suicide note in which he alleged harassment.
Earlier, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Chikamangalur sub-division Kallapa Handibag was found hanging in his father-in-law's home at Belgavi district.
Several members of the BJP took to streets here to protest against the Karnataka government.
Responding to media persons Siddaramaiah said that the BJP has no moral right to demand a CBI probe and said that proper action will be taken in accordance with the report.

"BJP has no moral right to demand CBI inquiry. We have already ordered CID inquiry; let the inquiry take place, let the report come. We will take action according to the report," he said.
Meanwhile, former chief minister and BJP leader Jagadish Shettar said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is inefficient and does not have the grounds to question the morality of BJP ministers.
"CM Siddaramaih is an inefficient chief minister, on what grounds does he have to say on other ministers morality," Shettar told ANI.
He added that the suicide of the DY SP is an eye opener making it difficult for honest officers to survive.
"The suicide of DY SP Ganapthy is an eye opener for state Home Ministry, only corrupt people will survive and honest people will collapse it is the system of Karnataka administration particularly home department," he said.
Ganapahthy committed suicide after he gave a television interview to a local channel. In the interview he alleged he was being harassed by ADGP (Intelligence) A M Prasad and former home minister K J George.
Ganapathy hails from Kodagu district. His brother M K Thammaiah is also a DySP posted in Bengaluru.
The police has sent his body for a post mortem.
