Karnataka: Kalaburgi administration introduces e-office

Carrying forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission of a 'Digital India', the district administration in Karnataka has started e-office from January 2 in Kalaburagi district.

District Collector Ujjawal Kumar Ghose announced that the district administration would now be working in e-office software.

After starting e-office, the people will get assistance in collecting all details from the office. In addition, this initiative will also help reduce corruption.

The district administration has started the transfer of old files into e-office and the administration office will be paperless within six months.

Ghose, who has studied Computer Science and worked with Google earlier before joining the prestigious IAS service, interacted with the staff and gave them training before starting e-office.

 

He said the purpose of e-office is transparent administration, file tracking besides keeping records in order and providing RTI inquires easily.

The District Collector can supervise and monitor the situation while sitting in his chamber and can see the pendency of the file.

Besides bringing in accountability and reducing indecisiveness, e-office will also help the authorities in quickly accessing the status of documents and files even when the concerned person is on leave.
