The Karnataka Prisons department on Tuesday rejected sacked All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader V.K. Sasikala's parole application to visit her ailing husband M. Natarajan.

Prison authorities said that her plea was not backed by a legally approved health certificate stating that her husband was unwell.

According to sources, Sasikala will file a fresh parole application tomorrow.

Sasikala had requested parole for 15 days to attend to her husband M Natarajan, who is critically ill. Her husband has been hospitalised for the last nine months due to kidney and liver ailments.

74-year-old, Natarajan is admitted at a private hospital in Chennai and is expected to undergo a liver transplant. He has suffered multiple organ failure.

Sasikala has been lodged in a Bengaluru prison since February 2017 after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.
