Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudheendra Kulkarni said here on Tuesday that Kashmir is a "core" issue between India and Pakistan.

"Kashmir is indeed a core issue between India and Pakistan. Especially, we in India should not beat around the bush, and it must be resolved to satisfy long suffering people of Kashmir," said Kulkarni.

Lavishing praise over Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar for relentlessly advocating in favour of India-Pakistan friendship, Kulkarni said, "I have been drawing inspiration from Aiyar, because he has been a fighter for the cause of India-Pakistan's friendship for more than three decades. He has popularised India by saying that talks between India and Pakistan should be 'uninterrupted' and 'interruptible'."

Kulkarni is here to attend the book launch of Pakistan former Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri - 'Neither A Hawk Nor A Dove'.

Pakistan Former President General Pervez Musharraf was also attending the function.

Kulkarni was earlier doused with black ink by some members of the Shiv Sena just before the launch of the same book in Mumbai for not bowing down to their diktat seeking cancellation of the event.
