Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday expressed his disappointment on being denied a legitimate stake in India-Pakistan dialogues, accusing India of treating the people of Kashmir as 'cattle'.

"Are the people of Kashmir some down-driven cattle that India and Pakistan will take decisions without involving them?" Farooq asked.

"Don't understand why there is so much resistance towards this dialogue involving the Kashmir residents on both sides," he added.

On Sunday, the Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader maintained that the people of Jammu and Kashmir must be engaged in the dialogue between India and Pakistan, calling for talks to be held at a bureaucratic as well as political level.

New Delhi, however, declared that there is no place for a third party in talks between India and Pakistan.
