Defence expert Major General (retd.) S.R. Sinho on Friday said India will give a befitting reply to the attack on the Rajbagh police station in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"India will give a befitting reply, this is just to put pressure on India," Sinho told ANI here.
"It is easy to infiltrate at this moment because snow in the Valley has not yet melted. But their first priority will always remain Jammu, Kathua and Samba area. The people there will get killed because their aim is to cause maximum casualties and create confusion and panic amongst the population," he added.
Earlier in the day, unidentified men open fired at the police station killing one policeman and leaving nine people, including seven CRPF personnel, one policeman and one civilian, injured. An encounter is still on between the security forces and the gunmen.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh has instructed the Jammu and Kashmir Home Secretary to actively monitor the situation. The Ministry of Home Affairs is also in touch with the agencies of Jammu and Kashmir.
