Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu flagged off the ITO-Mandi House metro service.
The Delhi Chief Minister also said that his government would do everything to expand the capital's metro network.
The decision to throw open the line was taken after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reportedly received the mandatory safety clearance from the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety.
As per reports, the construction of the one kilometre long section had been completed in January this year but operations on this section could not be started due to delay in safety inspection.
