AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has agreed to furnish a personal bond in the defamation case filed by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari.

Kejriwal's counsel Prashant Bhushan said the Delhi High Court had suggested that Kejriwal should file the personal bond.

The former Delhi chief minister was sent to judicial custody for a fortnight after he refused to apply for bail in the defamation case.

His lawyer Prashant Bhushan said, "The court will hear the important issues raised in the petition regarding whether any bail or bond is required in this case. But in the meantime, Kejriwal should sign the bond and come out of jail. This case has allowed him to raise a very important issue in the court."

The high court also fixed the final date of hearing as May 31.
