Kerala: 12 coaches of Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express derail, no injuries

Twelve coaches of the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express (16347) derailed at Karukutty near Angamaly in the wee hours of Sunday, however, no casualties were reported.

The incident occurred around 2:30 am when the train derailed between Aluva and Karukutty stations in Ernakulam district after leaving from Thiruvanathapuram at 8.40 pm on Saturday

The stranded passengers were then ferried in buses and local trains to Kochi and Mangalore.

Meanwhile, all trains in the route have been halted at various stations.

Railways said that passengers can ask for refunds for their incomplete trip. Those who made online booking will get automatic refund.
