U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has reportedly cut short his week-long foreign trip after suffering a leg injury in an accident while cycling in the French town of Scionzier, just 30 miles from Geneva, where he attended talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

Spokesman John Kirby said that Kerry regrets not being able to visit Spain and attend the counter-Islamic State (IS) coalition ministerial meeting in Paris. He added that Kerry did not lose consciousness and was attended by a physician at the scene before being flown to a hospital in Switzerland by a medical helicopter, reported Washington Post.

While the extent of the injury is not known, Kirby said that he was 'stable.'

Kerry was scheduled to fly to Madrid on Sunday and then on Monday to Paris for a meeting with the U.S. allies on the fight against the IS, before returning to Washington on Wednesday.
