U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met U.N. special envoy to Afghanistan Jan Kubis here on Friday.
He had earlier met President Hamid Karzai and contesting presidential candidates Abdul Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah.
Kerry has been sent by the Obama Administration to make an assessment of the situation arising out of the recently concluded presidential elections in Afghanistan, and to press all involved parties to work for a stable and unified Afghanistan.
Currently, the legitimacy of the Afghan elections and Afghanistan's transition to a self-reliant state are in the balance.
