New Delhi, Feb.23 (ANI): The budget session of Parliament began today. Taxpayers, railway commuters, global investors and analysts will keep an eye on both the railway and general budgets.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will present the Railway Budget on Thursday, while Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present the general budget on February 29.
The first phase of the budget will be of 15 days and the second phase will be for 16 days.
During the session, the government will try to pass many important bills, but could face stiff opposition on many issues.

Various pending bills such as the GST Bill and Real Estate Regulatory Bill are likely to be taken up during the session.
It maybe recalled that during the last couple of sessions, there has been stonewalling and disruptions, due to which discussions on many bills have been delayed.
This year's general budget is also expected to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi's imprint.
For the past month, the Prime Minister has been in touch with many officials of finance ministry.
Some important verdicts are to be expected from the budget for the common people.
The government will insure to provide cashless insurance in the hospitals for the common citizen just like it is provided in the corporate sector.
Senior citizens could be the first to enjoy the benefit. Under this scheme, a citizen above 50 years of age will be provided with coverage of Rs.50,000 and the government will pay 90 percent of the premium.
Similarly, to slow down the inflation, there can be an increase in funds.
Tax exemption with payment through card or online payment could be announced.
The government can also target on building EWS and LIG flats in huge numbers. These flats will be provided to those economically week family who don't have homes.
There are numerous villages in India and the government has always provided various schemes to boost infrastructure in these villages.
The general budget can provide new facilities to villages.
Every employed person and small scale business man are eyes on the general budget for the income tax exemption. It is possible that the limit in income tax exemption could be raised.
In spite of being educated, there are many people unemployed. People will be expecting new job opportunities from this general budget.
The youth of the country are also expecting new announcements related to education.
