ANI New Delhi (India)

Coming down hard on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing three-nation to Africa, senior Congress leader and member of Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that former could have avoided his visit as the Parliament session is currently underway.

"Prime Minister is out on a five-day tour when the Parliament session is on. The meeting could have been avoided," Kharge said.

Stating that Prime Minister's Africa visit was not an "inevitable" one, Kharge further said that the former chose the foreign tour skipping Parliament monsoon session.

"It was not an inevitable meeting. But, since he has the absolute majority, he chooses to go on foreign tours and skips Parliament sessions," he added.

Prime Minister Modi is currently on a five-day three-nation tour of the African continent-Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa.

He left for the tour on July 23.
