Leading cricket commentators in Australia and England, and cricket fans have vented their anger at the Ashes DRS debacle by flooding Twitter with 1000 posts a minute.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Tweets featuring the words 'DRS' or 'Khawaja' peaked at almost 1100 per minute in the moments after Usman Khawaja unsuccessfully appealed a caught behind decision the cricket world almost unanimously agreed was not out.

Twenty minutes later debate on the issue was still raging, with more than 500 tweets flying every minute, and it took almost an hour for it to die down, the report said.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd joined former greats, commentators and the masses on twitter to condemn the combined incompetence of on-field umpire Tony Hill and DRS umpire Kumar Dharmasena, the report added.

Shane Warne said he could not believe the decision while Sutherland said that they were seeking an explanation from the ICC, and Fox commentators Brendon Julian, Greg Blewett and Damien Fleming were similarly nonplussed.
