The younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reportedly been introduced for the first time as senior party official in state media.
According to the BBC, Kim Yo-jong, who is in her mid to late twenties, was identified as a vice-director of a department within the powerful Central Committee, KCNA said.
Kim Yo-jong made her first public appearance at the funeral of her father, Kim Jong-il, in 2011.
Since then she has been seen several times along with her brother at political events and "field guidance trips" sans any official title in the party.
With the announcement of her new title, observers are of the view that the North Korean tyrant's sister could end up playing a significant supportive leadership role, the report said.
