North Korea has announced it had executed leader Kim Jong Un's uncle after declaring him a traitor for trying to overthrow the state.
According to the state news agency KCNA, a tribunal had examined Jang Song Thaek's crimes, which included attempting to overthrow the state by all sorts of conspiracies and disgraceful methods with an ambition to grab the supreme power of the party and the state, Fox News reports.
The announcement came days after Pyongyang had announced that Jang was removed from all his important posts because of allegations of corruption, drug use, gambling, womanizing and leading a dissolute and depraved life.
The report called him "a traitor to the nation" and "worse than a dog.
