Former IPS officer-turned-social activist Kiran Bedi on Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a transformative and educating leader, lauding his message to the youth to stay clear of narcotic substances.

"Our Prime Minister is a transformative educating leader. He is an educative leader who is a very compassionate man, whose heart beats for every family of this country," Bedi told ANI here.

She also backed Prime Minister Modi's views that the money spent on drugs is used for ulterior motives that hits the nations' economy and feeds terror.

"The message is, that don't go into a life of darkness, don't go into a life of damage and destruction, say yes to life, say no to drugs. Because this drug money goes to feed terror, it hits the economy, it takes away your youth,' she said.

Bedi was also effusive about her praise for Prime Minister Modi coining the idea of having a national helpline to provide corrective path for drug addicts or who are prone to following that path.

"So, I think one of the finest things which is a very corrective and preventive is a national helpline, where if you call, you get support," she stated.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister called for a 'Drug-Free India' movement on social media and warned the nation's youth against the menace of drugs, saying 'darkness, destruction and devastation' are the 3Ds of drugs.

He also invited people to talk about the issue on the MyGov Open Forum and invited opinions on steps to get youngsters out of it.
