India has slipped to No.2 in the ODI rankings following their 15-run defeat by New Zealand in the second one-day international on Wednesday at Seddon Park, Hamilton.

Despite rain interrupting New Zealand's innings at 167 for 2 after 33.2 overs, the hosts won the game by the Duckworth/Lewis method, which took them 2-0 up in the series after their first ODI win at Napier.

Needing to reach a target of 293, India made 277 at the loss of nine wickets despite valiant efforts by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and first ODI-centurion Virat Kohli, and New Zealand kept producing timely wickets to pull India back every time they brought some semblance of parity to the chase.
