Ace Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna on Saturday pulled out of the forthcoming Davis Cup tie against Spain, citing that he has been asked to rest his injured knee.
"Unfortunately I had to withdraw from the Davis Cup tie against Spain next week in Delhi. Have been asked to rest my knee for next 10 days," the 36-year-old posted on Instagram.
Young Sumit Nagal, who was named as a reserve in the side, has been named as Bopanna's replacement.
With the exception of Bopanna, India has retained the same squad fielded against South Korea in July- Ramkumar
Ramanathan, Saketh Myneni and Leander Paes-in the Davis Cup Group 1 contest.
Over the last two years, India has lost both the World Group play-off ties against Serbia and Czech Republic.
The World Group play off-tie will be played on the hard courts of RK Khanna tennis stadium in New Delhi from September 16-18.
