Kobe Bryant announces retirement with 'Basketball' poem

American basketball player Kobe Bryant has announced that he will retire after this season.

In a statement posted on The Players' Tribune website, the 37-year-old player announced his retirement plans in the form of poem titled 'Dear Basketball', News.com.au reports.

Expressing his views on Bryant's retirement, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a recent interview that Bryant is one of the greatest players in the history of basketball game.

The basketball player, who is currently the highest paid player in the NBA, earning 25 million dollar this season, is the third all-time leading scorer in the NBA behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.

 

Bryant is also a two-time NBA scoring champion and a two-time Olympic gold medallist.
