Police in Jharkhand's Koderma District have confirmed the seizure of a huge consignment of explosives and suspect that it was reportedly being ferried by Maoists or Naxalites for use in another part of the state.

Briefing media about the explosives seizure, the station house officer of the Domchanch police station area, Suman Kumar Sinha, said 20 bags of ammonium nitrate were retrieved from a pick-up van on the basis of information received earlier about the vehicle's location.

Sinha said the owners or drivers of the van managed to escape before they could be picked up, and added that the explosives were being taken secretly from Navadih to Hazaribagh as per information gathered from a piece of paper found inside the van.

Koderma District Police are claiming this seizure of explosives to be a major success for them, and have informed media that full-scale investigations are on to find out who is responsible for this.
