Test captain Virat Kohli described Ravichandran Ashwin as a 'champion bowler' and said that the off-spinner's consistency is one of the prime reasons behind India's back-to-back series wins.

India comprehensively defeated South Africa by 124 runs on day three of the third Test in Nagpur to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series.

"He has always been a quality bowler. He has become more consistent with his stock bowl. He is not trying too much. You hardly see the carom ball coming in. He is relying on his natural delivery to deceive the batsmen with change in the pace. That has made him become stronger as a bowler and he is winning games for us consistently," Kohli said of Ashwin, who was adjudged as the Man of the Match for grabbing 12 wickets overall in the match.

Kohli, who also won his first home series as captain, opined that Ashwin's consistent performance was a sign of a champion bowler.

With the win, India ended South Africa's nine-year winning streak in away Test series.

Both the sides will next play the inconsequential final Test at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla from December 3.
