The Kolhapur Police has announced a cash reward of Rs. five lakh for providing information about the attackers of Communist veteran Govind Pansare, who died last week after being shot by unknown gunmen.
The last rites of Pansare, who succumbed to his injuries at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai late on Friday, were performed in Kolhapur yesterday.
The CPI leaders have demanded a thorough probe into Pansare's death.
82-year-old Pansare, who was in the forefront of the anti-road toll agitation, and his wife Uma were shot by unidentified persons near their house in Kolhapur last week when they were returning from the morning walk.
