South Korea has shattered Pakistan's dreams of qualifying for next year's World Cup by beating them 2-1 in the semi-final of the Asia Cup being played in Malaysia.
According to The Dawn, Pakistan, the most successful team in hockey with four World Cup titles, needed to win the Asian event to claim the sole qualifying ticket from this tournament.
Coach Tahir Zaman said that it was bad news for Pakistan hockey but the country had to live with the reality and make a long-term plan for its hockey.
Pakistan will play Malaysia in the third place match.
