Kubota contributes to construct industrial park in Myanmar

After a transition from military rule to a civilian government in 2011, with its open door policy to economic growths and rapid increase in overseas investment, Myanmar is developing industrial parks and other commercial facilities over an area of 2,400 hectares.

The Thilawa Special Economic Zone is located in the Thilawa area, about 23 kilometers southeast from Yangon.

The aim is to create infrastructure similar to what exists in developed countries, and this calls for attracting overseas investment, creating jobs and eventually spreading this mantra across the whole country.

Kubota Corporation is in charge of water supply, water purification and sewage treatment equipment.

 

Hiroshi Omori, General Manager, Kubota Corporation, Yangon Branch, said, "Using the water here as the water source to supply 6,000 tons of water per day to the industrial park."

The water purification plant in the Thilawa Industrial Park has been created through the precipitation separation process that uses chemicals. Eventually it will be filtered in that sand filtration tower, sterilized with chlorine, and provided to tenant companies.

Installing the equipment with an extremely low electricity cost has been contributing to the reduction of running cost.

In Myanmar, where the water-environment countermeasure is being advanced and there are still not enough operational control technicians, as the operation and maintenance activities, Kubota Corporation is establishing a regular patrol service system and supporting the stable operation of the delivery facilities.

Omori said, "For Kubota Corporation, making suggestions on the total solution of water infrastructure, expanding "the Kubota water environment package model of Thilawa Industrial Park" inclusive of construction and maintenance to the ASEAN region; and contributing to an environment-friendly economic development is our mission."

Also there are the moves toward the market of the ASEAN Economic Community established in 2015, with the economic development coupled with the liberalization of people, goods and money, the needs on water environment infrastructure equipment is expected to grow.
