Kurdish forces have recaptured a strategically crucial mountain from Islamic State militants in northern Iraq.
The forces were backed by the United States airstrikes in recapturing the mountain that stretches to the city of Mosul.
According to the BBC, the mountain was seized by IS militants last month when they had launched an attack on Iraqi Kurdistan.
The Kurdish forces said that the U.S. airstrikes had been a major support.
The commander of the elite forces said that the recapture of the mountain was a step towards taking back the city of Mosul which was still under IS militants.
