Lady Gaga recently paid tribute to iconic singer and songwriter Carole King when the latter was named the MusiCares person of the year, saying that she has always been grateful for King's music.

The 'Bad Romance' hit maker said that she used to lock herself in her father's man room as a troubled high school student and listen to King's 'You've Got a Friend' over and over, Fox News reported.

The 27-year-old singer asserted that the song made her feel that King was really her friend.

Gaga also thanked King for the way she sang right to her fans in her music.
