Disgraced former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi has expressed a 'keen interest' in developments after a witness for former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns was arrested in England on suspicion of 'perverting the course of justice'.
The Indian businessman lost a libel case to years ago to Cairns, who took on Modi for accusing him in a tweet of corruption when playing for Chandigarh in the now-defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL), which was set up as a rival to Modi's IPL.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Modi warned that he and his legal team would keep abreast of developments after the arrest of British lawyer Andrew Fitch-Holland, who was subsequently released without charge.
The report mentioned that Cairns, who confirmed he has been interviewed by police as part of that investigation, may face more problems with any revisiting of the libel case by the British legal system.
