The Youth Congress workers staged a protest here on Wednesday and demanded the resignations of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for their alleged links with former IPL chief Lalit Modi.

Carrying posters and banners which read "Remove Sushma and Vasundhara for unholy nexus with Lalit Modi" and "PM silent on Sushma-Lalit deal", the protestors raised slogans against the BJP-led government at the Centre.

They also burnt the effigies of Swaraj and Lalit Modi.

"A fugitive has been helped by ministers.I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a broom and clean up the mess in the government. Why is he silent on the matter," said Pradeep Prasad, a member of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee

Similar protests were held in Bhopal and Kanpur.

Swaraj and Raje are presently in the middle of a controversy for helping Lalit Modi. While Swaraj is facing criticism for helping the former IPL boss in getting the travel documents, Raje is accused of endorsing his application to stay in the UK.
