In a bid to reassert his popularity with the public, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav will on Wednesday kick-off his 'Parivartan Rally' from here.

Lalu, who has earlier organised several rallies, which drew large crowds, is leaving no stone unturned to make his rally a big success as well. His party leaders have booked special trains to transport people to the event in Patna.

The rally, to be held at Gandhi Maidan here, would be first of its kind by RJD after 2005 when it lost power to NDA in the state.

Lalu had travelled across the state asking people to join the rally, which has sparked political mudslinging between RJD and the ruling NDA

RJD general secretary Ramkripal Yadav said the rally would decide the future course of politics in Bihar.

"The Parivartan Rally will be the manifestation of people's anger against Nitish Kumar government," he said.

However, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Bihar, Giriraj Singh termed the rally as an 'Ahankaar (Egotist's) Rally'.

"I don't believe in this rally. Previously people used to organize rallies to bring about changes. Now people organize rallies to ease down their 'ahankaar," Singh told media here.
